Hey you!
Dear friend. Thank you for riding these waves with me.
2020, hey? What a year. It has been such a catalyst for growth, change, and awakening.
With this in mind, I thought it was only fitting to end Tea with HB the way I started the podcast, back in March: reflecting on things I have learnt. This episode is brewed with twenty life lessons, mistakes, epiphanies, pieces of advice, and core beliefs that have shaped the person I am today. Twen-tea tips from Twen-tea years.
So! Pour yourself a cup of tea, grab a blanket, light a candle, and snuggle up. Come and celebrate the season finale with me!
This is some writing I did just before the US election result was announced. It is a message that is helping me ground myself at the moment, and I hope it might do the same for you.
You look out of the window. The world is on fire with red and blue flames. Alive with passion and hatred, burning alongside one another. It’s too easy to be caught up in them, choking in the roaring heat. Your world view is shattered like glass. How can someone say that?! Fact becomes fiction and friendliness turns to fury, the fabric of society left a smouldering mound of toxic fumes.
Then you remember. Twitter is not what’s happening. News is not new. The window to the world is not a screen.
The window to the world is in the eyes of that friend you love because they feel it too. It’s in your brother’s ideas for the future, and the conversations where you talk about solutions not problems. It’s in your neighbour’s love for gardening and the stories about her granddaughter. The world is best seen as it is, through the window in your bedroom, from which flowers bloom, despite it all.
Love, HB x
