I got covid...
Oh, Sweet teas...
It’s been 2 years.
Of fearing for my life. Of being told by people I loved that if I died that was just ‘the way the cookie crumbled’. Of having ‘survival of the fittest’ and ‘natural selection’ shoved down my throat as if they are not eugenics.
At the beginning of January, I tested positive for Covid-19. Thanks to the vaccines, I am alive. But the process of getting vaccinated is not safe/supportive enough for chronically ill people. I spent over six weeks (total over the three vaccines I had) recovering from the vaccines, and am on day 22 of covid symptoms. I don't know how long it will take for me to recover from this virus, but I do know that sick people don't need more sickness. This was preventable. This could have been avoided. But now this is the world we live in... a world where some disabled people don't feel safe. Where they know that, in the eyes of the government, and many members of the public, they are expendable. I am grateful to be alive and I am scared of living.

☀️ Good News: I am working as a Disability Consultant! I'll tell you more when I can, but to everyone who helped with the survey about developing a disabled character for a TV show this month, thank you so much! I also became one of the Green Party's Equality and Diversity officers for the South East of England, a voluntary role, but hopefully I can contribute to making politics more accessible for disabled people.
